Dinner Hill

Bun's new shoes
Bun's quiche
May i brag a little more about my Mister, please? He's really awesome! Last night he took me out to our special hill for a dinner! He made my favorite summer salad and got salsa&tortilla chips! Plus we were covered with the evening sun and the grasshoppers (literally! especially me)! We toasted for love and Ben's new awesome shoes...

PS: did you know that:
The International Day of the Nacho takes place every October 21.

The International Nacho Festival is held on between October 13 and 15 at Piedras Negras.

My mister is a graduate again!

Benjamin finished his CELTA course!! Now he's not only an experienced and TEFL certified English teacher, his new and shiny diploma is on its way from Cambridge to Moscow right now! And now i'm double lucky: he is free during the day time which results in warm hugs and tasty dinners in the evenings! Today i experienced an enchiladas fiesta and can't move anymore...aaaa...i should have shared with a nice kitty we met on a street. Happy Monday everyone!

(milk)shake my memories

Healthy lunch before the fast-food hunt.

There's a huge billboard on a street that i walk down every day to work. I can't even tell you how surprised i was when one day i saw a familliar smiling face on it. It was a red head girl with two braids and many freckles.. this image immediately put me back in time to summer 2009: her face was on a building next to the hilton where i worked. I even visited her a couple of times for a milkshake and a salad... Wendy's has made it to Russia! So we just had to go say hi.

The first Wendy's is now open in the Arbat - an approximately one-kilometer long pedestrian street in the historical centre of Moscow. With so many souvenir stalls and shopping malls, Arbat is the most touristic area in the city. Somehow we managed to make a double promenade there and back before we spotted the right place on this endless eat-drink-buy line.

And yes we got the milkshakes!! A chocolate one with m&ms and a vanilla one with oreos! That was a perfect nostalgic evening. And it required some more calorie-burning moves, so we took another 2km walk afterwards. :-)

we love instax

A quick hello from Arbat street! More about the weekend later...

smile with us

Just. Look. What. I. Found. A little bird has already flown away by the time I picked this cute thing and I’m pretty happy with this new décor element for the balcony!

Happy nails for summer days: baby blue and popcorn yellow make me smile!

Homemade banana cream popsicles: keep refreshing ourselves!

From meadow with love: found these beauties on the way home from a store and now have a little of the sunshine on my desk.

I keep photo hunting for her yawn but recently get only these cozy lazy looks from Simona.

After filling ourselves full with these pretties we used the rest for yes-yes-yes strawberry jam!!!

I just can’t get enough of these little ears!

My mom is amazing at gardening and planting. She’s always best friends with the flowers and herbs. Look what she grew on my balcony! And there are so much more out there!

PS: I'm so excited!!! Look at THIS! Benjamin made a new friend and he has a beard too!

my lovely monster

I love her very-very-verrry much!

keep smiling

When we woke up Sunday morning and realized it was still raining, we decided to go for a rainy walk. I wore everything black i found in my wardrobe to make a bigger contrast with the vivid greenery of the streets. Plus a red lipstick and a big smile :-) We got some bananas and zucchinis for the next few cooking experiments i'm planning.
Have a great week!!!

Don't eat, just smell!

Your choice! ps: the nice whiite frame is actually the food tents on the sides :-)
Grumpy cheerleaders
o-la-la France
Retiring in Russia
Loved this opera ad.
We found a lady selling these peonies from her garden in a underground crossing - they are so tender and smell amazingly!
We are so much into food that when i saw an announcement for a World Food Festival i immediately made it into our weekend plan number one. We headed over there on Saturday: the day was pretty nice, for the first time during the week it was sunny and hot, we were very excited on the subway discussing what we should eat and drink. It was supposed to be a park divided into the zones-continents where you could visit different countries, take pictures of their famous sights and taste the national cuisine.

When we left the subway our excitement started to fall dramatically: the crowds on the streets, at the both park entrances, all over the park! At first we just turned around and left but then we decided to walk up another small side street and eventually found a less crowded entrance. So we waited, meanwhile watching the disappointed faces of those who were leaving such a desirable event and hearing them saying something like "..waste of time..", ".. why are they all waiting in the line for THAT?!?..", and the other praises for the organisers of the event. In 15 minutes we were inside. Just to find more lines to every and each little food shop in the park! Everything smelled pretty good but we mostly saw the grumpy faces of the visitors. We visited all the continents, shot the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, Marilyn Monroe.. and ran out in search for some real food! We ended up in a cafe having sushi and Tibetan tea and i should say it couldn't have been better!

PS: Happy father's day to all the wonderful dads out there, to my own papa and to Benjamin's father! We love you, dads!!!

the past week in tasty treats

We found this awesome Uzbek tea room not too far from our place! I  love the decorations, orange-honey tea and various different types of sugar.

Benjamin's favorite treat - Russian honey cake. It has some frosting on top and baked condensed milk inside... mmmm..

I baked some stuffed zucchinis with tomatoes and cheese!

And the top favorite for the rainy weather - hot chocolate/coffee/chicory with marshmallows!

raindrops keep fallin' on my head

It’s a rainy week. It’s even nice after the heat of the previous month. The sky is mostly gray, sometimes I see little blue splashes but most of the time it rains, drizzles, pours and showers. Last night a thunderstorm started right when I had to leave my office. My shoes got all wet soon after I went outside but it reminded me of the childhood when I couldn’t imagine anything more exciting than to run and jump in the puddles. I still love thunderstorms and puddles! My only problem is: I don’t own an umbrella! We do have some at home, but I don’t like any of them and I’m extremely lazy when it comes to carrying one around: it’s heavy, it flies away with the wind and when I take it with me it never rains. That’s why I prefer to enjoy the rain on a balcony with a cup of tea. But there are some extremely pretty umbrellas that might make me want to go outside and sing in the rain, just look at these:

Russia Day!

This Sunday was the main Russian holiday - Russia Day! Annually celebrated on the 12 of June. We couldn't miss it and went to a park to paint, sew and watch the doves in the blue sky. There's a pigeonry and we were lucky enough to be on time for the flight session.

Happy Russia Day!
Summer at its best
Future zoohop toy
This is how we celebrate. I love holidays.

new discoveries

In the district where we live there aren't too many places to eat out at or have coffee or drinks. Let me better put it this way: there are parks, rivers, lakes and that's all. You can take a bus and subway if you want something else. But recently we got a nice addition to our area: an Uzbek tearoom! How cool is that? I'll just show you:

green and jazz

We went to a park for an open air jazz concert, watched a squirrel eating nuts and being chased by a bird, got wet by the rain and sunburnt later, saw a Mongolian wedding and overall had quite a good time!

It's not me.
This is me.
