From Far Away Sunday - My meal

We love food. Ben eats faster than Katie. Katie usually shares with Ben.
When we are apart we can't enjoy our meals together, so we decided to cook and then share our meals online with each other this Sunday. And this is what we ate:

Ben had nachos in the States
Katie had a peach pie in Russia

Who I miss? my dear

It's Friday night in Idaho and I really miss Katie.  I got to talk to her this morning which was wonderful, but it's really hard to be apart from her.  I wanted to send her a card back.  I miss hugging her like this so much.

And I found this photo from the night before I left Russia.  "Cute Bear" and I say "We love you."  Cute bear is there with Katie, and since I can't be there to cuddle he'd love to do it until I get back.  He's in the black suitcase and might be a pain to reach, though.

what i like? Fridays!

Dear Mister, i miss you tons and elephants, here is a little postcard for you!

Hello, friends! It's Friday!!
It's been a very busy week so i'm expecting some good (i hope) results of it soon - this August has to be wonderful! July was pretty good but so looooong, i can't believe there are 33 days more till B is back! So i figured if i keep myself busier it will pass faster, right? But it's almost weekend now and it feels like a little break: i'm about to head out downtown for a meet-up with my good friend for some coffee and chats!
No plans for the weekend yet, anyone has any cool ideas? What are you up to?

Moscow sunsets from my window
it flew up to the 23rd floor to say hi to me on my balcony! what a brave little creature!

sunshine and rain

Hi, this is Benjamin. These are just some photos from the past couple of weeks that I wanted to share.

I just wish Katie were in some of them.

instax mini 7 - designed for fun

Hello everyone! How is it going? Craving some nostalgia? Remember those old polaroid photos coloring themselves right before your eyes and making you tremble with joy? Yes it is back! Fuji offers new designs, new colors, new sizes - the same thrill!

We are the happy owners of Instax Mini 7. They come in white with a pink or blue side! You can even go for the Hello Kitty version if you dare ;-)

The camera is easy to use: just pull out the lens and push a shutter button for a credit card sized instant picture! The camera uses 2 CR Lithium batteries (we haven't changed them since we got the camera last fall) and Instax mini film which is widely available in white/colorful/Disney/Hello Kitty design.

And some little drawbacks. First of all, although it weights less than a pound it's still too big to carry it in your pocket or a purse -- it's not a tiny camera type which you can always have with you wherever you go. Really, i would have more pictures if my instax fit in my purses and didn't make them look so chunky.

And the last thing to remember: the viewfinder is not perfect which i guess is true for the most "toy cameras". When you look through the viewfinder, check all edges of the frame to make sure they are lined up the way you want them. If you don't check, sometimes you end up with a picture that is shifted to the right or left and something gets cut off. Sometimes it's safest to be far enough away from a subject that you can clearly see that they are all the way in the frame when you take the picture. The camera can't focus if you are too close anyway -- and remember, part of the fun of polaroid and lomo cameras is the slight lack of control over the result.

Price: $70-90

Happy Snapping!

rivers, mountains and dams

This is Benjamin...  I really wished Katie were with me today, I went kayaking down a little river with my dad in the very western part of Montana, just across the border from Idaho. Katie loves Montana's mountains, so I made sure to take lots of pictures on my way down the river.

We also stopped to look at one of the dams. The sun happened to be at the right angle to create a rainbow visible from where we were standing.

And here's me saying "hi" and "I love you" to Katie :-)

PS: here's a new post from Michael TheMonkey! -- he is currently traveling with me.

hold me tight

Hello friends! It's Sunday again and it's time for our Photo Project - From Far Away Sunday Round 2! There are 38 days between us left and oh it is hard..! To make this waiting easier we chat on skype every day and dream of the things we want to do when we are together again. One of those is watching a sunset together covered in warm blankets with hot cocoa in our cups ( B is back in fall so i guess it will be pretty chilly in the evenings, and hot cocoa will be great again!)! As you already guessed this week's topic is a Sunset and here is what we share from across the ocean with each other and all of you:

a lake sunset in Idaho
a city sunset in Moscow

look around

Hi Benjamin and everyone! You probably already know that i love nature. I can't even describe how much i enjoy the feeling of the wind touching my skin, the sound of trees moving in forests, the greenes of fields, the smell of the sea.. Although i appreciate all the opportunities a big city gives me i still dream of living with more trees and mountains around than buildings and bus stops. We usualy try to go to the countryside every weekend and of course i have my cameras with me - as many as i can fit in a bag haha Does it make you realize how many photos i already have from countryside summertime 2011? Here are some of them!

And some creepy news: my mom bought a Flytrap plant! I'm so excited to see it in action! No bugs here though, they don't make it so high to get into our windows which is a good thing i guess.

ps:
Ben wrote another Story

Trinkets

My parents have collected lots of trinkets over the years, here are some of my favorites :-) I don't know where they are all from, but some I do: the bear is from Alaska, the horse is from Sweden, the minature dinosaur skull is from Canada, the metal vases and lamp are from India, and Katie and I got them the Matryoshkas and the cute little Gnome with the red hat!

It's morning in Russia now but I am going to bed, I miss my dear and I hope she is sleeping in late! :-)
