On one of the previous weekends we took highway 2 and drove to Kootenai falls. There are two hikes - one to the falls and another one to a swinging bridge. We loved it! It's so cool to walk across a huge river and feel how your every step shakes the bridge. It wasn't so cool on the way back because some kid went on the bridge at the same time as I did and he started jumping! It felt like we all are going to fly off!
I liked the waterfalls as well but.. First of all I've seen many waterfalls in Montana before and these are nice but not too impressive. And second, only when we got home I found out that we missed the "real" falls! We hiked for about 7-10 minutes till we saw the falls, we took pictures and turned around to go to the swinging bridge. I felt a little disappointed that it was so short and kind of small. So actually we could have hiked further to see the bigger falls! I don't know how we missed it. The trail isn't very clear there and I guess we didn't study a map at the entrance carefully enough. Oh well, it means there's another trip to Kootenai in the future! :-)
