Before you even look at this post, please check out Katie's dragonfly photo if you haven't seen it yet, it's incredible!
I took a trip up Schweitzer mountain again yesterday to help my mom set up her art booth for a festival they were having at the ski resort village and took a walk up the hill to take photos. At first I was just taking pictures of scenery in general, then one particular subject caught my eye: wildflowers! (And bugs.) There were so many different kinds! I tried to get a photo of every kind I saw. These flowers are a surprise for Katie, too :-)
And here are some other photos that are not necessarily flowers. I thought they would be good to include to provide an impression of the mountain as a whole... a view up the mountain from the village, a view down the mountain from the village toward the lake, a caterpillar nest, deer tracks and one more large patch of Indian Paintbrush :-)
And one more exciting thing happened at the mountain, but unfortunately I didn't catch it on camera... On the way down, a bear galloped across the road right in front of us! It was a pretty small young black bear with funny floppy ears. I really wish I could have gotten a photo but I was driving at the time and the camera was behind me in the back. By the time we slowed down to take a better look, it had completely disappeared into the bushes. It's pretty rare to see bears so I am always kind of excited when I do... I'm glad I'm usually in the car, though. I miss Katie a ton and I wish she had been here to see the bear, too. I am sending her one.

beautiful flower pictures! I can't believe you saw a bear, too. I've never seen one!
I love spotting bears (from a distance)! I've seen a couple in Yosemite, noshing on blueberries... but if anyone tries to approach (and believe me, people do) then they'll take off into the woods.
Gorgeous flower photos! I recognize many of the varieties you found, but not all of them... they're so pretty! You guys live in a beautiful place!
Thank you so much :)

Beautiful photos! I love the one of the bee, and I'm jealous of your bear sighting :)
Thanks so much everybody! Yeah, I love Katie's dragonfly photo, it's incredible!
I really wish I had gotten a picture of the bear! It had such funny ears and I love the way they run. @shari, yeah, they always run away... most people have heard not to feed them because they know it's bad, but some people still do.
Ha ha, I meant, "most people have heard not to feed them, but some people still do.'
