what Ben wore: squares and squirrels

My grandmother died this summer.  It was sad, but she was prepared, and there were some good points -- Katie and I got to see her while she was still herself.  She was on a lot of pain medication near the end and she couldn't communicate much, so it was great that we got to spend time with her before then.  She was happy to go "be with grandpa," too.  My grandmother was a soprano.  Her singing was the only music played at her funeral, which I thought was pretty cool because it was something she really cared about.

I guess I inherited this shirt from them, and it always makes me proud to wear stuff from my grandpa.  My grandpa was a runner his whole life.  When I was in high school running cross country I had a pair of his shoes.  They always inspired me to run faster and try harder.

Lately we seem to attract squirrels, or maybe it's just that there are tons of squirrels in Sandpoint.  This one thought we couldn't see him if he just lay still on the branch.  When we got really close, he eventually ran up to the higher branches and stared down at us.
