No offense to Mitt Romney, but this song is very catchy and hilarious. Actually, almost everything by Schmoyoho is on my fun list. So, I was editing the photos from a BBQ we had the other day, and it made me thinking how I love people... haha but seriously, I do, and why is making good friends suddenly so much harder when I'm 25 than it ever was?! You know, building friendships is a lot like dating: it takes lots of time, effort and emotional determination. And it just seems like after college it gets harder to divide 24 hours in nice chunks for work, family, grown-up responsibilities, good old friends, and getting to know new people. How do you find time to spend with your friends if you're not in college anymore?
Because of all of the reasons I mentioned above, I'm learning to truly appreciate every time I get to hang out with my friends without worrying about being somewhere else doing something else that I have on my to-do list. Ben and I usually try to meet with our Sandpoint friends for lunch from time to time, go hiking or to the beach, organize a BBQ evening.. In summer it's 500 times easier! Our latest gathering was super fun, a huge thank you goes to Ben's parents for providing us with their backyard and grill!
The next few months promise a lot of heart-warming activities, including a camping trip in Montana with one of our best friends (I can't wait and I hope we all make it there!), and a wedding in Utah with many-many amazing friends coming from all over the country. Even looking forward to it makes me feel very comfy and happy inside.

I've found that the older I get the more difficult it is so make friends!
It's not easy when work/life gets in the way. I haven't really found the ideal balance as yet. bbq times sounds and look ace. The beard coming back?
I think one reason it is harder to make friends around our age (I'm also 25) is that we have now realized what qualities make someone an actual friend, not just an associate...we start to realize how many people are associates rather than friends.
I feel you, it does seem like it's gotten harder to make friends! It's hard when you're a couple sometimes as well, because I feel like sometimes your single friends will get together and leave you out, but those are the friends that weren't great to begin with!
Oh, I love people. Gathering together and investing time in people is so important and wonderful - especially as we get older and busier and so much more stressed...
The BBQ looks magical! Can't wait for next time. <3
I absolutely agree that it is much harder. I've actually just experienced growing apart from some friends. Getting older we like doing different things than we did in our early 20s. My boyfriend. And I just moved to another city as well and don't have a clue where to start meeting people to hang out with.

Oh God. I hadn't heard that song before; that is so awesome!!
It seems like it's really hard to maintain relationships with friends now, but on the flip side--since my "friend time" is limited, I have had to whittle down the list of people whom I choose to spend time with, so while my circle of friends is smaller I think it's also richer. I have more real quality "friend dates" and less random gabfests with people that I don't have a deep connection to outside of work gossip or Saturday movies. So, that would be the silver lining!
This looks so fun! I agree with you, that it is hard to make new friends and also make time to do things with them. It is definitely easier to make friends at school, but it is even hard for me at community college because people don't really hang out after classes and whatnot. You just go to your classes and leave! But it is important to have friends and I am glad that you got to have a nice get together with yours :) And your upcoming travels sound so fun!

such a wonderful post. i like the mood, which these photos transfer. i hope you all having fun.
Definitely take advantage of summer! It's difficult to make good friends but once you have them, those kind will totally understand if you can't hang out every week. Camping trip sounds like a perfect getaway!
After school is done you start to realize what kind of things you want in a friend. Most of my old friends are people I could NEVER rely on today.
Great photos, it looks like you had an amazing time!
